Friends

It's not what I do and not what I've done
It's not the joy or the fun
My name will last, as long as there is one,
my friends are my legacy
They're the ones whom I have chose
In their memories I'll repose
No matter how I die or am disposed
in their memory I live, there I repose

Love will come from women or wife
from the woman I wish to live my life
But even at that, my friends are the key
To help and understand me as a man
To help in stress, to help in pain
To help me bear life's strain

Death I fear most of all, but though
My friend's dead and gone, I do see
Death may be a friend to me

For in death I'll be free
Free of want and physical needs
Free of love that leaves
Free of debts big and small

But no matter how big or small
No matter how famous or infamous
MY friends are friends to me
If memories of friends are all I have Left to me,
because of mishaps of life I'll never fall,
but may kneel to thank God for these

Relatives come and relatives go
I love them even so
But the chosen few loved ones I do Befriend,
can count me in, even At the end,
they're the ones who even through hard times I'd never abuse.

They'd do for me as I'd do for them
Never wanting or asking for payment
Never questioning why, where or when
If I need help I can count on my friends
Until the time comes and someone says over me

"AMEN"

We'll miss you friend.
